Canada visitor visa times, analyzed by country
IRCC currently publishes visitor-visa processing times for 170 applicant countries (of 211 tracked). The median is 35 days, but the spread is enormous — the same visa takes 14 days from Myanmar (Burma) and 792 days from Botswana. Data as of August 19, 2026.

The ten fastest — and what "fast" hides
Short published times cluster in countries with modest application volumes and high approval predictability. A 14 days figure does not mean the visa office is idle — it often means the recent sample skews toward straightforward cases.
The ten slowest
Long tails usually combine heavy demand, additional screening, and local capacity limits. If your country sits here, the practical advice is unglamorous: apply far earlier than feels necessary, and watch the recorded history on your route's page — sustained improvement over several weeks is a real signal, a single good week is not.
Read the movement, not just the level
Because IRCC recalculates weekly from completed cases, each route's history (which we record and the official site does not keep) tells you whether a corridor is clearing or clogging. Every country page on this site shows that history alongside today's figure — see the full table of all 211 countries.
